Remember: actions have casting and cool down times, so during Rift Gameplay, make sure to remember this when selecting the skill you wish to use, if the ability is on cooldown you won’t be able to use it, or worse, if you pick an skill that has a long cast time, it could mean the difference between victory and death.
After you have killed an enemy in Rift Gameplay, you can interact with the dead body (right click on it), and then click the items you wish to loot, or click LOOT ALL. Looted things are added to your bags. If you don’t have any bag slots left, you will not be able to get the items.
Equiping things
Press B to bring up your inventory, and right click on an item to equip it. For some items, you won’t be able to use it because of your calling or level. things you can use will have a white tooltip.
If you wish to un-equip an item, press C to open your character sheet, and right click the item you want to un-equip.
Now the fun stuff…how to gain levels
In Rift Gameplay, you level up by killing things, getting experience for everything you kill, and also finishing quests. when you have enough experience, you automatically level up.
Levelling up increases your player stats and also grants you soul points, which you can attribute to an ability. Do this by pressing N on your keyboard, and then click the ability you want to improve, or acquire. If you want to check your player stats, press C.
Training and Callings
once you first build your character in Rift Gameplay, you have to select a calling. The current selections are warrior, mage, cleric, and rogue.
You can acquire more abilities by visiting a trainer who specializes in your players calling, and paying them to grant or improve an ability.
Remember: make sure to assign all of your soul points before visiting the trainer. Do this by pressing N.
once you are ready to visit the trainer for your calling, right click on them, and select the ability you wish to increase. It costs to improve an ability, and the price will be displayed once you pick the skill. Click TRAIN to buy the training.
Abilities
In Rift Gameplay, new abilities are automagically added to your action bar if there is room for it.
Press P, and then drag skills directly to the action bar if you wish to change them.
If you hover over an ability, it will give you more information about the skill.
To use an ability, press on it in the action bar, or press the relevant key number.
Crafting
You are allowed to have three crafting abilities active at once.
If you wish to acquire a craft, see the relevant trainer to gain that craft. You can find craft trainers at major quest hubs. Training crafts is done the same way as training skills for your class.
If you already have three crafts, and want to unlearn one so that you can learn another, you can pay a trainer to get rid of one.
using your crafting skill will increase your proficiency.. Once you reach a certain level, you can visit the craft trainer again to gain other recipies.
Trade skills require you to stand next to a crafting station to use them. press the comma key to open your crafting window and select a skill, then, if you have all the materials for it, select a recipe. once you have done this, select CRAFT.
Gathering skills require you to stand next to a resource that you want to gather. Right click the resource, and then gather it.
once you craft or gather something, it will show up in your bag.
Quests
Quests are the best way to gain levels once playing alone in Rift Gameplay.
Quest givers have a yellow exclamation point over their head. Right click the quest character to see what quests are available. You can see what the mission is, and what reward you get for finishing it.
when you get a quest, press L to see it in your quest log. You can also see the quest on the right edge of the screen.
once you have completed a quest, follow the quest info to find out who to see to get your reward. sometimes this is the quest giver, and occasionally it is another NPC (non-player character). You can identify the character to see by looking for a tick above their head.
The map can guide you to where quest objectives can be completed.
Merchants
Merchants buy and sell goods such as equipment and supplies.
Right click on a merchant, and then right click on the item in your inventory to sell it. If you want to purchase from a merchant, right click on the item you wish to buy.
You can buy back things from a merchant if you sold them by mistake. At least the last 20 items can be bought back.
Death
Even the best of players die from time to time. In Rift Gameplay, when you die for the first time, you will be offered the chance to Respawn, or Soul Walk.
Soul Walk can only be done once every hour. once you pick Soul Walk, you have 15 seconds to travel away from the danger before being brought back to life.
once you Respawn, you appear at the nearest respawn platform where you can start gameplay, or travel back to where your dead body is and start from there.
Occasionally once you Respawn at a resurrection pad, you will suffer a penalty, which results in your soul being hurt and your max health being reduced. You can visit a soul healer to fix this. Soul Healers can be found not far from resurrection pads.
